STCOC Education Committee Meeting
Our May Guest Speaker will be DR. STEVE KNOBL
Dr. Steve Knobl is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC). He took the helm of the $72 million-dollar agency in mid-September succeeding retiring CEO Dave McGerald who stepped down after almost 16 years of continuous service with the agency.
Knobl has spent the first few months of his tenure fully immersing himself in the culture and network of social service agencies that operate in Hillsborough County. He is fully engaged and committed to connecting our community via the collective and connective issues of early learning.
Dr. Steve Knobl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from University of Central Florida, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of South Florida. He has been an educational leader for more than 15 years and has extensive experience as an Elementary School Teacher, Adjunct Professor, Middle School and High School Principal, and College Director and Dean.
He and his wife Laura, a first-grade teacher in Pasco County, are the proud parents of two sons, Drew, who is 14 years old, and Nathan, who is 11 years old. In his free time, he enjoys attending his sons’ soccer games, going to the beach, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
THE EARLY LEARNING COALITON OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY
The Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC) is a 501(C)3 organization that specializes in the funding and delivery of quality early childhood care and education and after-school programs and services to the children and families of Hillsborough County. The Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC) serves approximately 20,000 children and families per day via its early learning programs and services. It works with over 1,100 early learning programs (small businesses) in Hillsborough County in an effort to make quality, accessible and affordable early learning programming available to ALL families in our community. The Coalition is committed to defeating the status of early learning as mere ‘baby-sitting’ or ‘just day care’ and raising it up as a viable investment opportunity that has immediate and long-term economic impacts on our community. We believe all children should have a quality early learning experience that is essential in building a successful future.
The Coalition uses a comprehensive and integrated approach to how it works in and for our community and realizes that the change makers involved in organizations like Rotary play a key role in our organizational and community success and we welcome all opportunities to engage in this important conversation.
