South Tampa Chamber Gives This Holiday Season

This holiday season the South Tampa Chamber will focus on “giving instead of getting” with several programs designed to support local non-profits and military families.

Golf Classic Feeds 40 Military Families
On November 4 the 20th Annual Fall Golf Classic was held at Bay Palms Golf Club at MacDill Air Force Base. A portion of the proceeds from the event were raised to contribute to local military families in need. Through a donation to Pennies for Pegasus, more than 40 local military families will receive items to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving Traditions for the International Collation
Each year Chamber member Rob Rowen, a past chairman of the board and founding member of the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee, organizes a partnership with USCENTCOM and USSOCOM to match
International Coalition members with Tampa area families so they may experience a traditional Thanksgiving holiday while there are stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. The Tampa Bay Times featured members Rob Rowen, Samantha Dammer, Debbie Lundberg and Kate Wilde in the November edition of Bay Magazine. Click here and flip to page 68 to see the article.

Giving Tuesday to Support the Alpha House of Tampa
For the third year the South Tampa Chamber has selected the
Alpha House of Tampa as their holiday season beneficiary. The Chamber will collect diapers and books at all events in the months of November and December. At the November 29th holiday party the Chamber will also collect cash donations. This year Radiant Church has generously pledged to match the Chamber’s donation up to $2000. Watch a video message from Chamber CEO Kelly Flannery and Radiant Church Lead Pastor Aaron Burke.

    Giving Tuesday is November 29th
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources. Women in Business to Volunteer at Metropolitan Ministries
The South Tampa Chamber's Women in Business Group will volunteer in the Holiday Tent on Wednesday, December 21st. From October through December, there is a need for up to 800 volunteers a day to operate this program! Individuals and groups may find themselves registering clients, sorting donations, stocking our market, assisting clients with their shopping, playing with children, cleaning, leading a prayer time, or even performing on our stage.
There are a limited number of spots and RSVP is required - click here.
