South Tampa Chamber Grand Opening Draws Large Crowd of Community Leaders and Business Owners
TAMPA, FL - The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce hosted an open house and ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their new Hyde Park office located in the SoHo district at 701 S. Howard Avenue. More than 150 guests came to celebrate including the Chamber’s board of directors, members, local business owners and elected officials Hillsborough County Commission Board Chair Sandy Murman and City Councilmen Harry Cohen and Mike Suarez.
The all-day event included an open house with coffee in the morning followed by an official ribbon cutting and “Taste of South Howard” reception in the evening featuring various Chamber member restaurants along SoHo’s restaurant row.
Chamber President and CEO, Kelly Flannery, had the honor of cutting the ribbon after remarks were made by Murman and Cohen. Murman presented Flannery with a “You Make the Difference” Award in recognition of the organization’s efforts to advance quality of life, promote economic development, and advocate for a favorable business climate in South Tampa.
The Chamber moved from their South Dale Mabry office in December due to a need for more space to accommodate a growing staff and membership roster. The new office is approximately 2000 square feet and features a board room and a common space for members to congregate. “This move is one of the most important strategic decisions to be made in our 89 year history,” said Flannery. “We strive to create a strong sense of community for our members and the larger space will allow us to continue to foster that feeling while also providing a more efficient work environment for our staff as they work to create new programs to benefit not only our members but the South Tampa community. The new space also features special areas specifically designed for member use.”
