THE TAMPA BAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE SOUTH TAMPA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
AS THE CHAMBERS OF THE YEAR
FORT WALTON BEACH, FL (September 16, 2020) – The Florida Association of Chamber Professionals (FACP) recognized Florida’s top chambers of commerce throughout the state for their outstanding achievement and dedication to the industry. The awards were presented at the organization’s Annual Conference, held September 15-17, 2020 at The Island Hotel by RL in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Annually, FACP recognizes up to three chambers of commerce within Florida that has excelled in a variety of areas, including: financial stability, membership recruitment and retention; governmental relations; strategic planning; technology; communications; special events; innovation and accomplishments over the past three years. The application process is very detailed and requires a true commitment from those who choose to apply.
This year, FACP recognized The Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce in the category of chambers of commerce with an annual budget of over $1 Million as well as The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce in the category of chambers of commerce with an annual budget of less than $500,000.
The accomplishments of the Tampa Bay Chamber that were noted included doubling their gross revenues during the past 7 years with no new full-time additional employees, growing cash by 33% during the same period, achieving a 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and hosting Anne Geddes, world-renowned photographer and philanthropist at their Annual Women of Influence Luncheon.
The South Tampa Chamber’s accomplishments included creating an organic membership recruitment program with over 75% of their new members coming from referrals from other satisfied members, being recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a Three-Star Chamber of Valor, Hiring Our Heroes’ highest honor for local and state chambers for their leadership in connecting companies with talented veteran and military spouse candidates, and quickly pivoting during COVID-19 to be the first chamber in the area to transition to a 100% virtual format and hosting more than 100 opportunities from March-July 2020 for their members to learn, lead and connect.
“The 2020 chamber of the year recipients have much to be proud of and have demonstrated a high caliber of service to their communities and the members that they represent,” noted Tammy C. Bracewell, President of FACP. “Their lists of accomplishments were exceptional and demonstrated excellence in all areas of chamber operations,” she added.
