  • South Tampa Chamber Statement on COVID-19, Event Announcements & Office Hours

    Dear Valued Members,
    We know that you have no doubt received a lot of communications and information this past week regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The South Tampa Chamber has been in contact with local, state and federal governments, as well as health care organizations over the past several weeks to gather information and determine how to best to protect our community and assist local businesses. 

    The executive committee and staff of the South Tampa Chamber recently met to determine the best course of action moving forward in regards to chamber programming and operations. Please reach out to the chamber staff with any questions or concerns you may have, or if we may assist your business as we navigate this new experience together.
    Business Resources:
    We have created a webpage with some resources available to you and your business to help you work through this unprecedented time. We will continue to update the webpage as we receive new information.
    Upcoming Events:
    Updated March 23: In an abundance of caution, and because the health of our members, staff, and our community is our first priority, non-essential events and meetings will be postponed or cancelled through April 30th. Please check the chamber’s online calendar for additional updates and announcements on potential disruptions to our programming.

    Taste of South Tampa:
    We are sad to share that the 15th Annual Taste of South Tampa scheduled for March 22nd will be postponed until the Fall of 2020. After much conversation, and in light of recent suggestions made by the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, our leadership team has decided it is in the best interest of public health and safety to move the event date. We will honor all sponsorship and ticket purchases on the new event date to be announced very soon. We will send additional communications to event sponsors, exhibitors, partners and ticket holders in the next few days.

    Office Hours:
    Updated March 23: Following the advice of public health experts and our local elected officials to limit face-to-face interactions, the Chamber staff will be working remotely until further notice. We will continue to be available to serve you via email and phone, Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm, Friday 9am-3pmPlease click here for staff contact information.

    How Can We Help?
    We are already hearing from businesses, especially those in point-of-sale industries (retail and restaurants), regarding the decline of business that they are seeing throughout our community. According to the economists with the US Chamber of Commerce, local and household spending will be the key to maintaining a strong economy during this time. Because of this, the South Tampa Chamber is looking for ideas and feedback on how we can support and promote your businesses over the next few months.
    Open For Business:
    The first part of this program will be a new initiative we are rolling out immediately called #OpenForBusiness! Post a photo or short video letting everyone know you are OPEN FOR BUSINESS! We will share/post them on the chamber's social media platforms. You do not have to be point of sale business, but make sure to include a call to action in your post. 

    Social Media Tip:
    If you post your photos or video to your own social media platforms please make sure to use #OpenForBusiness and #RememberAMember. You will also need to tag the South Tampa Chamber in order for us to receive a notification and re-share your content.
